Local swimmers win medals

The Warragul Warriors swam at the Victorian Country Championsh­ips in Shepparton with success recently, with many swimmers coming away with medals.

The hot conditions tested both swimmers and spectators, with the Warriors thanking coaching staff and parents for their support across the three-day event.

With 24 swimmers representi­ng Warragul, the club’s pride, determinat­ion and commitment was on display.

With a young and developing team the future of the swimming club looks bright. Individual medal winners: Girls 11 and under 50m Breastroke: 1st Izzy Risch; Boys 13 and under 200m IML: 3rd Ben Francis; Girls 11 and under 50m Freestyle: 3rd Izzy Risch; Boys 13 and under 100m Breastroke 3rd Anton Risch. Relay medal winners: Girls 12 and under 200m Freestyle relay: 3rd (Shani Ballantyne, Izzy Risch, Bianca Zurrer, Michaela Doherty); Boys 14 and under 200m Medley relay: 2nd (Callum Halloran-Lavelle, Jeremy Nielsen, Ben Francis, Riley Griffin); Girls 12 and under 200m Medley relay: 3rd (Shani Ballantyne, Izzy Risch, Bianca Zurrer, Michaela Doherty); Boys 14 and under 200m Freestyle relay: 3rd (Callum Halloran-Lavelle, Riley Griffin, Ben Francis, Anton Risch); Finals qualifiers: Boys 13 and under 200m IM: 6th Callum Halloran-Lavelle; Boys 13 and under 100m Freestyle: 4th Riley Griffin; Girls 13 100m Breaststro­ke: 7th Kealey Watson; Girls 12 100m Butterfly: 7th Bianca Zurrer; Boys 12 100m Butterfly: 7th Seth Cannon; Girls 11 and under 50m Butterfly: 7th Izzy Risch; Boys 13 100m Butterfly: 4th Ben Francis, 6th Callum Halloran-Lavelle.
