Longwarry straight into grand final

-

Longwarry’s division three played Drouin for the second time in two weeks with the second semi-final at Warragul on Saturday.

They won all four rinks to advance to the grand final in two weeks.

Division three: Longwarry 20/116 defeated Drouin (2) 0/71.

Simon Counsel, Grant Pask, Ian Peterson and Russell White (skip) defeated Noel Rubenstein’s team 28/20.

Longwarry, who were keen to make amends after losing this rink by eight shots the week before, were slow starters. Sitting seven shots down after three ends, some good team work and a little luck gave them a seven-shot lead heading into the break. The second half of the game was evenly poised, with Longwarry keeping Drouin at arm’s length to win by eight shots in a great game.

Elio Meggetto, Judy Eastwell, Kenneth Towt and Barry White (skip) defeated Col Finger’s team 31/16.

Longwarry got off to a great start, picking up a six on end 13 to lead by 14 shots. With Kenneth bowling well, Longwarry ended up winning by 15 shots in a dominant display.

Brian Hennessy, Mark Serong, John Dorotich and Kenny White (skip) defeated Graham Woolstencroft’s team 21/16.

In the closest game of the day, Longwarry got out to an early six-shot lead, went into the break three-shots up, and had a great tussle with Drouin for the remainder of the game. Longwarry eventually won by 5 shots.

Glenn Pask, Lloyd Maisey, Hank Metselaar and Jason Eastwell (skip) defeated David Tayles’ team 36/19.

The “D” team got off to a great start and went into the main break with a commanding 15shot lead. After the break, Longwarry kept playing good team bowls, giving the skip an armchair ride, to eventually win by 17 shots. They were the best overall rink for the day.
