Neerim District (9-241) def. Jindivick (160):

Neerim District have moved a game clear on top of the division two table and claimed what could be an important psychological edge over Jindivick heading into the finals following their 81-run win over the Jumping Jacks on Saturday.

Having posted a challenging target of 241 for Jindivick to chase, Neerim District were forced on the back-foot early by the boundary-hitting ability of Caleb Boswell – with the opener blasting an aggressive 61-ball 47 to ignite Jindivick’s chase.

Peter Galvin (25 from 36) and Steve Dillon (a watchful 56) did their best to help the Jumping Jacks reach a position of control, but their efforts were undone thanks to a stunning assault on the lower-order from Toby Bayne.

Triggering a collapse of 5-18, Bayne removed Kamran Murtaza (seven), Michael Buzasi (a first-ball duck), Sayeed Shah (1) and Jack Langley (0) in the space of just a few overs to completely derail the Jindivick pursuit.

Finishing with 5-43, the fiery quick’s efforts helped the Stags to dismiss the Jumping Jacks for just 160 – in the process firmly putting themselves into the frame for flag favouritism.

Kangas seal posistion

Hallora (5-214) def. Ellinbank (195): Hallora sealed their position in the top four in division two at the weekend thanks to a tight 19-run win over Ellinbank – a victory made possible thanks to a late flurry of wickets to Steven Fox.
