Drouin Golf Club has celebrated another successful charity golf day, with 74 players teeing up to help raise $3500 for the Amaze charity.

Event organiser Vin Bibby said a lovely summer day with a top of 28 degrees helped attract a strong field for the event.

Mr Bibby and his wife Judy had felt compelled to organise the charity day in support of positive change for people with autism.

He thanked several local businesses whose support assisted in the success of the event, along with all players for taking part.

Amaze was set up in 1967 by a group of parents who were struggling to find autism resources. It provided a central information source and supported individuals and their families.

Today Amaze is the peak body for people on the autism spectrum and their supporters in Victoria.

Amaze raises awareness and influences positive change for people on the autism spectrum and their families/supporters and provides independent, credible information and resources to individuals, families, professionals, government and the wider community.

Helen Moon scored 42 points to be crowned overall winner of the event and take home the Ficifolia medallion.

With the event also including novelty events, the ball in the bucket on the seventh hole proved particularly challenging. With no winners, $154 was collected for the cause. Results: 1st Helen Moon 42, 2nd Bob Ramage 38; DTL: Women: Leesa Matthews (Garfield) 39; Men: Tim Cornell 38cb; Non-handicap section: Women: Debbie Ablett; Men: Josh Noonan; NTP: 5th Meagan Ford, 8th Andrew Anderson, 10th Glenda Warren; Pro pin: Kevin Thorpe; Longest drive: Women’s: Shirley Roberts; Men’s: Nathan Archibald; 7th hole ball in the basket: No winners.
