Help needed for Good Friday

-

Volunteers are currently sought to help with the Good Friday Appeal doorknock in West Gippsland.

Raising funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital, Uncle Bobs Club is coordinating doorknocks in Warragul, Drouin, Neerim South and Bunyip on Friday, March 30.

“The lives of many local children have been saved by the Royal Children’s Hospital and it is that time of year when local people can give something back to the hospital,” said Kevin Potter of Uncle Bobs Club.

“So if you are over 16, gather all your friends and get those tins rattling for the hospital appeal.”

Whether you have the entire day or just an hour or two spare on Good Friday, each volunteer can raise important funds.

Mr Potter said the low numbers of volunteer doorknockers was making it increasingly difficult to cover growing towns. Last year, about 25 volunteers covered Drouin and Warragul.

Despite this, West Gippsland residents showed plenty of generosity and donated more than $64,000 to the appeal.

In Warragul, volunteers will meet at the Westpac Bank to be given tins and maps. The bank is open from 10am to 4pm for appeal donations only.

Call Kevin Potter on 5623 6210 for further information.

In Drouin, the group will not be operating from the bowling club as in previous years. However, anyone willing to help by doing the doorknock is asked to contact Val Peacock for a collection tin on 5625 2782.

If you can assist the Neerim South doorknock, call George Gleeson on 5626 8238.

The Bunyip group will be operating from the fire brigade station. Call Barry Turner on 5625 4830 if you can assist.

Uncle Bobs Club members will collect donations at the Warragul traffic lights on the corner of Victoria and Albert streets on Thursday, March 29.

Members will also be collecting at the Drouin supermarkets on the same date.

Residents can also purchase Easter egg raffle tickets from Uncle Bobs Club volunteers in Coles Warragul.
