Near perfect conditions enabled some excellent results to be achieved in round one of the Veteran’s Trophy, which was sponsored by John McDonough.

Fifty women played in the stroke event with the winner of A grade Cecilia Stewart coming in with an excellent score of 85/18/67.

The winner of B grade was Marg McNulty 97/27/70, with Jan Gilchrist the C grade winner 115/45/70.

The A grade gross winner was Irene Thomas with 83 B grade gross winner was Simone Herbel with 95 while Tracey Cusden won C grade gross with 101.

Down the line balls went to Jude Kennedy 90/21/69, Molly Answerth 102/31/71, Joan Nelson 99/28/71, Marlene Wight 102/31/71, Heather Reeves 106/35/71, Helen Coghlan 88/16/72, Lisa Heggart 96/24/72, Wendy Brown 112/40/72, Wilma Henshall 101/29/72, Penny Scott 94/22/72 and Del Baker 93/20/73.

The par three performer was Irene Thomas who won nearest the pin on the 7th, 15th and 18th.

The A grade mystery six winner was Judy Magill while Molly Answerth was the B grade winner.

Seventeen women played in the competitio­n off the yellow tees.

The winner was Marion Pertzel with nett 28 on a count back from Jennie Weir.

Down the line balls went to Margaret Williams with nett 29, Julie Keeble and Rhonda Rhodes both with nett 32.

Tomorrow is round two of the Veteran’s Trophy and will be sponsored by Marlene Wight.

It is also March monthly medal and round one of the Silver Spoon and Mona McLeod.
