for 50 opening up, but only two other batsmen were able to make it past 20 as the Warriors collapsed to be all out for 153.

Brilliant Bayne

Neerim District (4-229) def. Hallora (6-227): Grant Duncan did his level best to deny Neerim District victory in their division two clash, but the brilliance of Nathan Bayne ensured that his efforts counted for nought – with the Stags taking out a six-wicket win over the Kangaroos in their semi-final.

On at times a grinding display of cricket on Saturday, Hallora made their way to a competitive total of 6-227 courtesy of a tremendous unbeaten 90 from Grant Duncan.

Having walked to the crease with his side in trouble at 3-46, Duncan’s impressive temperament helped the Kangaroos to post a strong total.

With Jai Newcombe (who made 67) in support, Duncan’s third half-century of the summer put Neerim District temporarily on the back-foot.

However, a rapid opening stand of 75 between Jack Ward and Nathan Bayne soon saw the momentum swing in the direction of the Stags, and there was little that the Halloran bowlers could do to stem the flow of runs.

With the change bowlers leaking runs, Bayne continued on his way unperturbed by anything bowled at him, notching his maiden division two century, totaling 115*, and carrying Neerim District to victory in the 55th over.
