Baw Baw Arts Alliance
This wonderful annual event, is when all of Gippsland art communities, come together for the month to showcase and share with the public the ideas and skills of their areas and Gippsland as a whole.
Bbaa (Baw Baw Arts Alliance) has a number of exciting art workshops being run at the Trafalgar Station ArtSPaCE. An engraving and sandblast glass workshop, will be run for the first time.
Peter Cummings from Sale will bring a trailer load of equipment for people to use, as well as diamond point handpiece to take home. This workshop will be great for artists, sketchers, and printers.
The fibre group have a two day workshop with renown Master Felter Catherine O’Leary as well as starter days using needle felting and fibre felt brooch flowers by Karen-Anne Jones.
Award winning Kay Lancashire will be conducting a Metalwork Play session, to create your own jewellery. The new printing press has allowed us to have embossing with a collagraphic plate session, and Ross is demonstrating the intriguing process of Egg Tempura as a painting technique.
Prue and Jessie’s kids program will include the Hot Glue Gun, allowing children to make wonderful creations from the mountain of materials collected.
The exhibition the Bbaa members will have on display in the Yarragon Station Gallery in May, will be ‘Dot Points.’ An intriguing themed exhibition it is sure to create some wonderful artworks.
V-Line has again sponsored this event. As the events are in the Yarragon and Trafalgar stations, this is a wonderful opportunity to use the trains.
The weekly ‘Drop-in’ sessions in Trafalgar ArtSPaCE will be open to everyone to try the various artforms. Painting, mixed media, clay, mosaics and fibre from 10am - 1pm. More information www.bawbawarts alliance.org.au or drop in the galleries.
