How to apply for grants

-

A community information session outlining how to apply for Baw Baw Shire community grants will be held in Trafalgar on Thursday night.

Up to $300,000 is available to share amongst groups and organisations in this year’s grants program.

This year the application open dates have been brought forward slightly earlier to allow community groups the full financial year to complete projects.

Applications for funding are available in four categories:

Environment - A maximum grant of $2000 for activities that directly benefit the environment.

Youth, community events and programs - Up to $3000 per grant to support events such as festivals and youth, community, sporting and cultural programs. Events and programs that cater for youth aged 12 to 25 are highly encouraged.

Minor capital works - Maximum grants of $10,000 to support minor repairs and renovations, including disabled access to buildings, sporting and other community facilities and playgrounds. This funding requires a community contribution to match council’s grant.

An official “expression of interest” must be submitted for each grant application in the minor capital works category before 3pm on Friday, May 4.

Minor equipment purchases - A maximum grant of up to $5000 for community groups to purchase key equipment to help facilitate community projects.

Anyone interested in applying for grants is encouraged to attend the community information session on Thursday at the Trafalgar Business Centre from 6pm to 8pm. Anyone unable to attend will have access to a live streaming link to the session with details available on council’s website.

Applications for the community development grants will close at 3pm on Friday June 15.
