The annual tournament kicked off with men’s day on Saturday in glorious conditions.

A grade was played over 36 gruelling holes, with Ryan Hammond returning nice scratch scores of 68 and 72 to be the A grade champion.

Shawn Coombs played steadily with scores of 70 and 73 nett to take out the A grade handicap title.

The 27-hole B grade event was won by Ian Good, who won comfortabl­y on a grand total of 128. The nett winner was Garfield member Darren Stanton, who finished on 106.5.

It was another Garfield member taking out the C grade scratch event, with Tolly Baharis shooting a staggering 82 off a 20 handicap.

With Baharis only eligible for one prize, Graham Austin took advantage with a 66 nett to win the nett trophy.

Wednesday saw 83 players contest a stableford competitio­n in perfect conditions.

Colin Zeeno shot the best score of the day with an excellent 42 points to take out A grade.

The good scores continued in B grade with the winner being Bill McGinness, while Jim Bethune’s 41 was the best of C grade.

Women

Tuesday last was a stableford event with trophies donated by Kay Feaver and Leanne Pollard. Results: A grade: 1st Sharon Rippon 35, 2nd Lorna Hoskins 34; B grade: 1st Christine Knight 37, 2nd Ann McGougan 35; DTL: Mary Tymensen, Sue Hatfield 31cb; NTP: 5th Judy Bibby, 8th Shirley Roberts, pro-pin Karen Adams.

Christine Knight won the Grandmothe­r’s trophy.

Today will be the women’s stroke event in the Drouin tournament, while tomorrow is a mixed event for Anzac Day.

Seniors

It was a lovely morning for the Drouin Seniors nine-hole golf event on Thursday.

The winner in the women’s division was Marg Murray with 20 points.

The runner up was Helen Moon with 18 points, followed by Audrey Farthing and Audrey Smethurst with 16 points. Then came Jan Stone, Lorna Hoskins, Marg Cox and Glenda Warren with 15 points, and Marion Devlin with 14 points.

In the men’s division the winner was Graham Moon with 18 points.

The runners up were Graham Dorling and Rolf Loebert with 17 points, followed by Peter Downward, Gilbert Davis, and Tex Devlin with 16 points.
