Try eating in the dark

-

Vision Australia is inviting community members to test their senses at a fundraising dinner with a difference in support of people across Gippsland who are blind or have low vision.

Dinner in the Dark is a fun-filled evening with guests immersing themselves in a world of darkness, eating a two-course meal while blindfolded to simulate the challenges faced by the blind and low vision community when dining out.

“This is the first time Vision Australia will be running this event in Gippsland, and we are very excited to be hosting this unique dining experience,” Vision Australia regional manager Beryl Raufer said.

“Not only does it raise vital funds to support our local low vision and blind community but it is a way of raising awareness of what it is like to live without one of our five senses.

“The experience of other Vision Australia ‘Dinner in the Dark’ events is that guests really embraced the idea.”

This is Vision Australia Warragul’s largest fundraising event of the year.

In addition to ticket sales, the event will also feature a silent auction and raffle with a major prize of a much sought-after family pass for Vision Australia’s Carols By Candlelight up for grabs.

Dinner in the Dark will be held on Saturday July 7 at 7.00pm at the Warragul Reception and Conference Centre, 41 Sutton Street, Warragul.

Single tickets cost $80 or table of 10 for $700. Tickets can be purchased direct through the website www.ditdgipps.eventbrite.com.
