Gippsland Travel and Scenic want you to discover the luxury of river cruising

-

When you consider the all-inclusive luxury, it’s no surprise that river cruising continues to grow in popularity for travellers.

Gippsland Travel have recently celebrated their 30th birthday, and owner Jacquey Turner and her expert team have sent hundreds of highly satisfied clients river cruising. Clients benefit from the team’s firsthand expert advice, with the team at Gippsland Travel personally having experienced twelve river cruises between them.

For travellers new to river cruising, one of the biggest benefits is only having to unpack once and experience a much more intimate, gentle way of seeing the world.

“River cruising gives you maximum time to explore your chosen destination,” says Jacquey. “You dock right in the heart of a city, which means no long transfers or waiting times to reach the sights. You can literally stroll off the ship and you’re there. It’s very relaxed and smooth cruising to really soak in and enjoy.”

Having experienced river cruising in many destinations around the world with several operators, Jacquey really loves to recommend Scenic to her clients.

“River cruising with Scenic means you’re on a 5-star floating hotel. The Scenic “Space Ship” provides experiences that are beyond exceptional. Absolutely everything is included. There are no hidden surprises. From the moment you step on board, you will be spoilt with an experience of luxury. Your own private butler will stack your mini bar in your room daily so you may enjoy a drink on your balcony after a fun-filled day enjoying one of the many Free Choice Excursions.”

While some travellers know of the popular Amsterdam to Budapest cruising,’ there are many more options. Jacquey has cruised The Volga in Russia, the Irrawaddy River through Myanmar, The Nile in Egypt, along the Rhone in the South of France, down the Douro River in Portugal and along the Yangtze River in China. When asked what her favourite cruise was, Jacquey replied with “All of them”.

Jacquey is not the only one at Gippsland Travel to experience the enjoyment of river cruising. Debbie cruised the Danube River on the Scenic Jasper’s inaugural voyage, while Brianna travelled on the Scenic Amber from Munich. Linda really enjoyed her time cruising the Mekong River from Saigon to Siem Reap and Taylor has only just returned from her first cruise, from Vienna to Passau. This time of year, is really special for river cruising.

“This is when we get to discover what’s new for next season, and there’s always something exciting.

“That’s why I’m inviting readers to come along to our free local presentations on Friday, 8 June, to talk to the Scenic experts and find out more.”

You’ll discover river cruising both in Europe and on the Mekong in Asia. The presentation also includes the spectacular Scenic Eclipse, the world’s first Discovery Yacht and the first ocean cruise ship from Scenic, offering the “ultimate experience of a lifetime” for just 228 guests. Launching in August 2018, her maiden voyage season will include The Americas; Antarctica; Europe and the Mediterranean; and the Arctic and Fjords.

There will also be a special offer on the day that gives you even more value, if you’re ready to book. There’s no obligation to book; just like river cruising, there’s no pressure.

While the sessions are free, bookings are essential (by Wednesday, 6 June) as space is limited. To reserve your seat, contact Gippsland Travel on 5623 5151 or email reception@gippslandtravel.com.au

Shingles is a viral infection caused by the reactivation of the chickenpox virus.

While shingles often resolves without complications, some people may continue to experience ongoing nerve pain for months or years after the rash has healed.

Be sure to get your flu vaccination for 2018

Annual influenza vaccination is recommended for any person aged from 6 months who wants to protect themselves from influenza.

The flu virus is especially dangerous for elderly people, pregnant women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and very young children, also for people with underlying medical conditions.

Influenza is spread easily, mainly through sneezing and coughing.

Droplets containing the influenza virus also settle onto surfaces, such as telephones, door knobs, etc. and then can pass from hands to the nose, mouth or eyes.
