STILL IN ‘FIVE’ DESPITE LOSS

Warragul reserves still hold fifth position on the ladder but after a heavy defeat at Maffra on Saturday have a lot of work ahead of them to stay there.

The Gulls were no match for Maffra going down 17-11 to 2-4.

Warragul is a game clear of main challenger Wonthaggi but still has a bye ahead of it before the halfway mark of the home and away rounds.

On Saturday the Gulls’ best were “old head” Brad Nott, Hayden Lawson-Pepper, another veteran Leigh Sheehan, Jake Orlicki, Sam Serramondi and Tim Brady.

Captain Jamie Somers kicked both the goals.
