Drama opportunity

-

Young performers are being sought to join a residential theatre intensive in Bendigo from July 1 to 9.

Registrations are now open for people aged 13 to 21.

Young people who live, work, play or study in Baw Baw Shire can apply for a $200 scholarship to attend, taking the cost of the nine-day experience down to $250.

Theatre Youth Unlimited is holding two residential theatre intensives for the first time in 2018.

Part one saw a program held in Trafalgar during January. Part two will see 40 different young performers further their skills at Koolamurt Park Scout Camp and The Engine Room in Bendigo.

Following the challenging program of immersive theatre-making will culminate in an all-new production of “The Places You’ll Go”, a suite of specially written new works for young actors.

“This is our first foray into Central Victoria,” said project coordinator Joanne Watt.

“This project is all about extending the skills of the young people and the directors,” she added. “It is also a special opportunity to work scripts especially penned for TYU by Steph Clark from Warragul and Melbourne’s Didem Caia, and, of course, gives a fabulous opportunity to make theatrebased friends across the state.”

For registrations or further information, visit theatrecraft.org.au or call Joanne on 0408 366 481.
