Blues edge Eagles in Reserves

Catani held the edge over Ellinbank in the Reserves, winning 9-8 (62) to 4-9 (33).

The Blues set up victory with a fast start, kicking four goals to one in the first term to open up an 18-point advantage.

The Eagles kept in touch with neither side registerin­g a major in the third term, the Blues forced to work to the very end with three goals to two in the final term to seal the match.

Lachlan Pratt booted four goals against his former club, while Luke McFarlane, Daniel Keily, John Traynor, Adam White, Ryan Lowe and Jarrod Shields also helped keep the Eagles at arm’s length.

Jack Pandolfo, Ashley Scott, Bradley Berry, Tony Wright, Neale Parke and Sam Brown kept Ellinbank in the contest.

Crows start fast

Longwarry also kicked four goals to one in the first term to set up its win over Buln Buln.

The match turned into an arm wrestle from that point, the Crows kicking four goals to three after quarter time to win 8-14 (62) to 4-7 (31).

Paul Williams kicked three goals, while Jacob Cuckson, Braydon Monroe, Jeremy Hill and Ryan Wouters also helped keep the Lyrebirds at bay.

Pete Verbeek, Tim Stoll, Leyton Willis, Brad Trotman and Sean Symes helped give the Lyrebirds faint hope.

Saints use breeze

Nyora made the better use of the scoring end to comfortabl­y account for Nilma-Darnum, 13-8 (86) to 4-10 (34).

While the Bombers matched it in the second and final terms, the Saints did the damage when they had their turn to the scoring end. Four goals in the first term and five in the third ultimately the difference between the two sides.

Gavin Doig booted five goals for the Saints, while Luke Tagliaferr­o, Adam Jamieson, Brett Kelly in his 300th game, Robert Malberg and Dylan Lehne-Howe were also among the better players.

Korey Carrison, Malcolm Hunter, Joe Gibbons, Blake Cann and Michael Buzasi were competitiv­e for the Bombers.

Magpies kick away

Poowong comfortabl­y accounted for Neerim-Neerim South, 16-9 (105) to 2-4 (16).

The Magpies kicked five goals in the first term to kick out to a 26-point lead, and maintained control throughout the contest for a big win.

Ryan Moore booted five goals, while Lachlan Bourne and Oscar CastellasC­artwright each chipped in with three majors.

Brad Curtain, Jack Commadeur, Tony Blackwood and Jordan Know were also prominent.

Jason Elliott, Jayden Bell, Thomas Slate, Heath Strating, Luke Bottom and Kane Woolstencr­oft battled hard against the odds for the Cats.

Dusties see off Tigers

Warragul Industrial­s had little trouble seeing off Lang Lang, 13-12 (90) to 1-2 (8).

While the Tigers kept the home team to just one goal in the second term, the Industrial­s were otherwise able to score freely on the way to a big win.

Dylan Holland booted three goals, while Damien Mullen, Scott Lindsay, Jack O’Neil, Drew Davey and Scott Blaney were also prominent in a dominant home side.

Lang Lang’s better players were not available at time of going to print.
