Twenty-eight Warragul women battled wet and heavy conditions in the stableford event, which was supposed to be round one of the Captain’s Trophy.

Due to carts not being allowed on the course, the Captain’s Trophy has been reschedule­d. Results: A grade: 1st Sue Rose 32, 2nd Barb Davidson 29; B grade: 1st Cheryl Trickett 34, 2nd Simone Herbel 33; DTL: Jenny Wiedermann 32, Margaret Williams 29, Helen Amott 28, Carol Stephens, Kaye Rollinson and Kerri Ahearn 27.

The nearest the pin star for the day was Margaret Williams, who was closest on both the seventh and the 15th.

The A grade Mystery 6 winner was Sue Rose with Jenny Wiedermann the winner of B grade.

Seven women participat­ed in the nine-hole event, the winner being Janine Williams with 16 points from Sheila Applegate on 13 points.

Tomorrow will be the reschedule­d round one of the Captain’s Trophy.

Drouin

Saturday was the men’s foursomes championsh­ip with 40 pairs enjoying beautiful conditions.

Leon Cook and Matthew Long shot an incredible three under par 69 to take out the scratch title in convincing fashion, some five shots ahead of Ryan Hammond and Ryan Radford.

The handicap champions were Richard Sheehan and Jim Bransgrove who tallied up a fantastic foursomes score of 68 nett to edge out Long and Cook by half a shot.

On Wednesday, 54 brave players contested a stableford event in some very bleak conditions.

This didn’t stop some good scoring, with the in-form Shane Dwyer winning A grade with a nice 39 points.

Another making a habit of winning of late was Graham Austin, who took out B grade with 37 points.

The star of the day was Jim Hanlon, who amassed a fantastic 45 points to dominate the scores in C grade.

DTL: Mark Johnson 37, Mark Keegan 37, Gilbert Davis 36, Alan Bright 36, Phil Wilshire 36.

NTP: 8th Paul Davie, 10th Kevin Johnson, 14th Phil Wilshire.

Wednesday will be stableford, with Saturday the June monthly medal.
