What benefit?
The ongoing roadworks in Palmerston St, Warragul seem to be a great deal of prolonged effort for very little result and hardly any benefit to the community and certainly no particular advantage for motorists who are required to suffer much in Warragul.
Whatever benefit will be derived after this vast expenditure and extraordinary length of time, mess, traffic chaos and pedestrian disregard it seems will be for just very few businesses.
Meanwhile, no thought has been given to traffic access to Victoria St.
The only access from Smith St now is to either drive through Woolworths car park, contributing to the traffic jams already experienced there, or to go up Albert St and create further unnecessary traffic congestion.
We also have the bizarre installations of the Mason St series of roundabouts. Now a total of four roundabouts making drivers giddy as we navigate our way along this short stretch of road.
Anymore roundabouts in Mason St and the actual road will be shorter than these superfluous installations.
Why was it thought by council to instal roundabouts at T intersections. It defies logic.
Our other superstructure expenditure, the overdue West Gippsland Arts Centre rebuild, which was probably an overkill decision and at the expense of more urgent projects and a complete disregard for the original design and the efforts of the original construction and cost to the residents at the time.
Lets face it the old theatre more than adequately accommodated audiences at most productions where the theatre was generally less than half full, or to put another way more than half empty. Richard Pitt, Warragul
