Full steam ahead for 2018 Blokes Barbeque
Planning is well underway for the 2018 Baw Baw Big Blokes Barbeque to be held at Lardner Park on Friday, October 19.
The Blokes Barbeque is an annual luncheon started in 2012 by a group of passionate local businessmen.
The aim of the event is to give men a day out – with lunch, entertainment, raffles, auctions and an opportunity to catch up with other local men.
The event seeks to raise awareness of prostate cancer in the community and raises vital funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and many local initiatives.
2018 will mark the event’s seventh anniversary – in the six years to date over 4000 men have attended the event and over $900,000 has been raised. Much has been happening in the cricket world over the past few months so the 2018 line up will have a cricket flavour.
A fantastic line-up of speakers will feature former Australian cricketer and former Australian cricket team coach Darren Lehmann and former Australian bowler Damien Fleming. Heath Franklin’s “Chopper” will provide the laughs.
Over the past few years the Baw Baw Big Blokes Barbeque committee have directed funds to the worthy local initiative of first aid training for all year nine students in Baw Baw Shire.
This program is set to continue in 2018. To date over 4300 students have been trained under this program which is funded solely by the annual Blokes Barbeque.
Demand for patron level sponsorships has been hot with Insurance Advisernet, Viatek and the Warragul & Drouin Gazette all committing to patron level sponsorships of the event this year.
A variety of sponsorship packages are available for this year’s event and tables of ten are available at $1300 per table.
Please visit bawbaw bigblokes.com for further details on table sales and sponsorships or keep your eye on the Gazette over the coming weeks.
