Amie’s spellbinding role

-

From waitress to stage, former Warragul resident Amie Wadsworth is living her dream.

After studying musical theatre at Jason Coleman’s Minister of Dance, Amie gained a waitressing job at Witches in Britches Theatre Restaurant in Melbourne.

Gaining experience whilst waitressing in character, Amie said “it’s a really fun place to work”.

Some four months later, Amie auditioned for a role in the theatre restaurant’s new stage show “The Witches Voice” and gained a oneyear contract.

The former Warragul Regional College school captain and Dancepointe Studio student underwent six weeks of rehearsals before stepping onto the stage in late May for opening night.

“Just getting paid to do what I love and working with remarkably talented people,” said Amie when asked of the experience so far.

Amie plays multiple roles including crazy potion maker “Lily” and villain of the story “Lillth”.

The spellbinding musical comedy follows a newly appointed coven witch’s journey to reclaim her singing voice.

In addition to her professional pursuits, Amie has been teaching since the age of 17 and this year starting a drama teaching role with a special needs group named “BAM Allstars” in Seaford.

“I think it’s incredible really, it’s the highlight of my week.”

Looking to the future, Amie would like to secure a cruise ship or Disney contact.

“In the future, I would love to be able to travel and do what I do. That’s the ultimate dream.”
