Women take break from farm

-

Local farming women took an opportunity to take a day off from the farm as charity Aussie Helpers launched its breakfast in a bag program at Darnum Hotel last week.

The breakfast in a bag concept was formed as an idea to create awareness in the community of the importance of supporting Australian made and grown products, with the flow on supporting farmers and businesses and creating employment.

Guests were provided a bag and challenged to fill it with breakfast items that were Australian made and owned.

The women were spoilt with haircuts, make up and nail treatment, with participating women given a breakfast in a bag and a share the dignity bag upon leaving, along with a box of fresh fruit and vegetables donated by a local business.

The boxes had been decorated by children from Yarragon Early Learning Centre.

Other services were also in attendance, including Rural Finance Service to offer financial advice.

The breakfast in a box concept is away from Aussie Helpers’ normal method of operation of personal visits to farming families delivering food and other essentials including stockfeed and counselling.

Aussie Helpers stay in touch with hundreds of farming families nationwide to ensure their well-being through good and bad times.
