Taser used for arrest

-

A Drouin man was arrested and remanded in custody after police were forced to use capsicum spray and a taser gun in his arrest.

Police attended Fairway Drv at 9pm on Friday night in response to a report of a stolen vehicle with stolen registration plates.

Warragul and Drouin police, as well as members of the divisional tasking unit attended.

Police said they approached the driver who appeared to be in a drug affected state.

Police smashed a window to gain access to the vehicle.

Police allege the man became violent towards police so they used capsicum spray in an attempt to calm him. When this failed, police used a taser to successfully arrest him.

The 24-year-old man was arrested and charged with a number of theft and drug offences. He has been remanded to reappear at Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

Three tyres and wheel rims valued at $2000 were stolen from the driveway of a house in Ramsden St, Drouin on the weekend.

The theft occurred at 12.42am on Saturday morning.

Police said the tyres and rims belonged to a VE Holden Commodore.

A 17-year-old Moe youth was later arrested and interviewed by police. He was released pending theft charges by summons.
