ANOTHER SPLIT ROUND

-

Gippsland League will split round on Saturday. Three matches will be played this week. Drouin will travel to Leongatha for its only clash with a top five side in the final three rounds.

Although they’ve been knocking on the door in recent weeks against some good sides Leongatha at Leongatha might be just out of reach for the improving Hawks.

The defending premiers are not yet prepared to concede they can’t grab the important top position by the end of the home and away rounds so won’t be easing off.

Eight and 9th sides Morwell and Wonthaggi do battle at Morwell.

Pride and taking another step away from a possible wooden spoon will be on the line.

The Tigers have dropped off sharply over the start another past month after some encouraging mid-season form while Wonthaggi’s season has been marked by its inability to kick competitive scores.

Saturday’s 22-point total at Sale was Wonthaggi’s lowest for the season and the 9th time from 15 games that it has failed to score 50 points in a match.

In the meeting between the two clubs earlier in the season Morwell won by 39 points.

Bairnsdale will host Sale that continues its strong march towards a premiership challenge.

Games the following week will see Warragul at home to Maffra and Traralgon take on Moe.

Next Saturday’s games at grounds of first named clubs are:Leongatha v. Drouin.

Bairnsdale v. Sale. Morwell v. Wonthaggi.
