Rural burglaries

-

Police are investigating a series of burglaries at rural properties over recent weeks.

A pressure pump was stolen from a property in Balfour Rd, Willow Grove last week.

Police said offenders attended a 3.5 hectare property between August 2 and August 6 and stole a pressure pump.

In another incident, offenders forced entry to a house and two sheds at a property in Noojee. The burglary and theft occurred between July 17 and August 7.

Police said a Honda generator and chainsaw were stolen. kept pulling, but the rest wouldn’t move. So we were really worried and called the vet,’ she said.

After x-raying Basil, the vet confirmed the hook was stuck in the dog’s oesophagus. He was then put under anaesthetic so it could be carefully removed. The procedure took some time due to the risk of further damage.

‘Luckily, everything went really well. He is fine now, and spent the rest of his weekend sleeping and being a smooch.

“We were super lucky the hook did not go any further down Basil’s oesophagus or into his stomach.

‘It is awful that someone would leave fishing line, let alone a hook and bait that any kid could have stepped on or another animal eaten,’ Melanie said.

While relieved that Basil is still happy and healthy, despite his experience, Melanie would hate for someone else to loose a pet, or have their child injured, because of something so easily prevented.

Her message is simple and clear: ‘Pick up your rubbish.’
