Exciting finals ahead for U16s
Poowong held off a determined Buln Buln in the under 16s.
Despite a disparity on the ladder, the thirdplaced Magpies didn’t have it all their own way over the fifth-placed Lyrebirds, who took a three-point lead into the final change.
The Magpies kicked out to an early three goal lead, only for the Lyrebirds to peg it back by the long break.
Two goals to one in the third term saw the Lyrebirds on the charge, putting in a competitive effort to show they will be capable of matching it with their higher ranked opponents come finals time.
Poowong stood up in the final term to steady with two goals to one to deliver a tight sixpoint victory, 6-7 (43) to 6-1 (37).
Ryan Knight, Caspian Jackman-Riches, Noah Peacock, Reide Macqueen, Kyle Loveridge and Hayden Wallis helped the Magpies steady.
Paisarn White, Alex Hasan, Gaige White, Angus Mulconry, Brendan Wall and Max Chesterfield jept the Lyrebirds in the contest.
Dusties in control
Top team Warragul Industrials had little trouble in disposing of Catani, 10-12 (72) to 0-1 (1).
The Industrials held the Blues scoreless in the first term and were never headed in building a comfortable lead.
Luke Kinder kicked three goals, while Brayden Hefford, Darcy Whelan, Oliver Marek, Josh Smith-Butterworth, Aiden Keady and Patrick Smythe were also prominent.
Jake Hartley-Monckton, Kobee Dore-Wilson, Brandon Thompson, Brock Bedwell, Jeht Townley and Josh Scott battled against the odds for Catani.
Crows win big
Longwarry were big winners over NeerimNeerim South, 17-7 (109) to 3-0 (18).
While the Cats played their best quarter in the second with two goals, the Crows scored seven of their own to build a match winning lead.
Seven goals to one in the second half ensured the Crows finished strongly.
Angus Adamiak continued his goal kicking form, booting eight majors, while Aidan Fox chipped in with three goals.
Tim Ruddell, Zac Wright, Bailey Stephens, Cameron Reid and Liam Quarrell were also dominant.
Daly Taylor, Reece Clarke, Isaac Fuller, Ayden Ramm, Jai Atkins and Thomas Crole were the better players for the Cats.
