Finals spots secured in U18s

-

Neerim-Neerim South stitched up the minor premiership in the under 18s with a comfortable victory over Lang Lang, 1116 (82) to 2-1 (13).

A fast start set up the result, which will ensure the Cats get an opportunity to rest before its assault on the finals.

Six goals in the first term ensured the Cats were on the front foot from the outset, with only a return of nine behinds in the second term limiting the damage on the scoreboard.

The Tigers were competitive in the third term, matching the Cats with two goals, but the Cats responded to finish strongly in the final quarter.

Charlie Bethune booted three goals, while Cooper Clancy, Rhys George, Declan Bagot, Justin Lockett, Isaac Fuller and Lachlan Guy also led the Cats to a strong win.

Mason Koffman, Cameron Stephenson, Boadee Bilson, Rhys Simmons and Chris Matser led a competitive third term from the Tigers.

Premiers in form

Reigning premier Catani continued its strong form, comfortably accounting for Warragul Industrials 14-11 (95) to 2-1 (13).

Nine goals to no score in the first half opened a match winning lead with Blues full forward Lauchlan Gregson bringing up goal number 100 for the season on the way to finishing with five majors.

Garry Lantjin kicked two second half goals for the Industrials, but the home side still managed to win the second half on the way to a big win.

Blake Roberts, Kiam Rose, Ryan Smith and Charlie Davies were prominent in the Blues’ big win.

Robert Macdonald, Blake Kahan, Ryan Young, Riley Sheriff, Nathan Mazza and Lantjin were the better players for the Industrials.

Buln secure chance

Buln Buln put no doubt into securing its second chance with victory over Poowong, 109 (69) to 2-4 (16).

The Lyrebirds made their move following a competitive first term, booting seven goals to one to have the match in their keeping at the final change.

The match petered out as both sides kicked one goal in the final quarter.

Flynn O’Reilly kicked four goals, while Bailey Wright, Kyan Willis, Chad Hall, Tai Strachan and Charlie Wans also helped the Lyrebirds to a match winning lead.

Mitchel Van’T Hof, Darcy Loughridge, Lachlan De Kleuver, Joshua McNally, Jye Loughridge and Darcy Burgess led a competitive start from the Magpies.

Eagles cruise to win

Ellinbank cruised to victory over Nyora, 7-7 (49) to 2-8 (20).

With scores locked at quarter time, the Eagles kicked five goals to one to open a handy buffer.

The Eagles could only manage one goal in the second half, but a run of seven behinds to the home side saw an opportunity wasted to get back in the match.

Lachlan Shelton, Marcello Downie, Patrick Anderson, Josh Tongs and Daniel Bradford led the second quarter charge for the Eagles.

Travis Stewart, Jai McNaughton, Tyson Fievez, Blake Boyd, Oscar Lazarus and Kevin Farley led an otherwise competitive effort for the Saints.
