All on the line in junior finals

It was all on the line in Warragul District Junior Football League semi-finals, as teams battled it out for a place in the grand final or to keep their season alive. Under 10s Semi Final 1 Garfield v Warranor It was unquestion­ably the wettest game all year in this suspensefu­l semi-final.

Both teams demonstrat­ed good skills considerin­g the conditions.

Garfield kicked out first and never looked back, while Warranor fought out a hard finals contest.

It was a great game of football by both teams, making an excellent game for the spectators. Semi Final 2 Caldermead­e v The Bulls It was a terrible day for football with wet and muddy conditions.

Caldermead­e came out strong and kicked the first goal. Both teams fought hard and The Bulls were very quick to the ball.

An arm wrestle in the last two quarters saw The Bulls get enough score to win the game by 16 points. Under 12s Semi Final 1 Warranor v The Bulls In an extremely wet day for football, the contest between Warranor and The Bulls was very tight for the entire game, resulting in very low scores.

The Bulls were into the last quarter with a seven-point lead.

Warranor threw everything they had in the last few minutes and managed to pin the margin back to one-point, the Bulls winning by the smallest of margins.

It was a great game by both teams despite the weather.

Warranor’s Zach Bambridge played his 50th game. Semi Final 2 Warragul Blues v Drouin Gold Wet conditions greeted Warragul Blues and Drouin Gold in the second semi-final at Drouin Recreation Reserve.

With a spot in the grand final up for grabs, both teams threw their bodies on the line from the opening bounce.

Blues kicked the first goal after most of the quarter in attack.

Drouin Gold were good with their contested marking but couldn’t get through the Blues solid defence. The wet conditions making it hard to take control of the ball.

It was a great game with the Blues running out comfortabl­e winner in the end. Under 14s Semi Final 1 Warragul Blues v Bunyip It was slippery conditions at Drouin to kick of the under 14 final between Blues and Bunyip.

A tough contest ensued for the first three quarters, with both sides going goal for goal.

The Blues pushed the ball forward in the last and got the goals on the board, and ran out easy winners in the end.

Blues player Matt Roberts played his 100th game. Semi Final 2 Drouin Gold v Warranor Overcast conditions didn’t stop both teams coming out full of running, showcasing clean skills in a very even thrilling first quarter of football.

Warrantor applied pressure and found targets in the second, resulting in some welldeserv­ed goals, however Drouin kept coming.

The final half saw both teams attack the ball and use it like it was a dry sunny day.

After four quarter of tough, skilful football Warrantor came away with the win.

Drouin’s Ethan Nalder and Jed Pinkerton played their 50th game and Jack Virtue played his 100th.
