Op shop donates funds
Drouin Anglican Church Opportunity Shop has made a number of donations to groups and community organisations.
In July the op shop donated $500 to the Baw Baw Combined Churches Food Relief in Warragul, part of a regular donation each quarter.
A total of $1000 was donated to the Drouin Playgroup to assist with fundraising to cover some of the overheads as well as craft supplies and general maintenance of the building.
A donation of $500 was made to the volunteers who make the Breast Cancer Comfort Cushions to purchase materials to continue making cushions. The cushions are handed out to patients who are having breast cancer surgery and provide comfort and security to women after surgery.
Drouin Scout Group received $500 for programs for boys and girls between seven and 15 years of age. The donation was to assist with fundraising to send 15 scouts to a Jamboree for 10 days at Tailem Bend in South Australia in January 2019.
The jamboree event will include fun activities and challenge the children, teaching them resilience and independence. The opportunity shop considered all the donations worthy causes and because the shop is well supported by donations from the community was able to reach out and assist those in need.
Bricks to the owner of an old Jack Russell dog in Drouin West, followed me home recently from my morning walk, came onto my property and attacked two of my hens killing one. You will never know what your awful dog has done so I hope you read this.
A big thank you to our neighbours who pitched in with chainsaws and a tractor to remove a huge gum tree that fell over our two car ports last Tuesday night in Jindivick.
