Double delight for Traf juniors

-

Trafalgar made it three premierships from three attempts, with both its Thirds and Fourths team breaking through for the premiership.

The Thirds team overcame a late challenge from Newborough to confirm their status as undefeated premiers and champions.

The Bloods gradually wore the Bulldogs down to build to a 35-point lead at the final change.

Not to be outdone, the Bulldogs charged home with six final quarter goals to send nerves through the Bloods camp.

Only a steadier helped the Bloods maintain their lead, having been staring down the barrell of their only defeat of the season when it mattered most.

The Bloods held on to win by just threepoints, 7-12 (54) to 7-9 (51).

Darcey Young, Nelson Byrne, Blake Radford, Cougar Milsom, Josh Moore and Xavier Taylor were the better players as Trafalgar established an early lead.

Earlier, Trafalgar overcame a slow start to comfortably take the Fourths premiership over Yinnar.

Trailing by seven points at the first change, the Bloods took their chances to the scoring end with four goals establishing a 20-point buffer at the long break.

Restricting the Magpies to just two goals in each the first and third terms proved instrumental to the outcome, with the Bloods holding a five-point advantage at the final change.

The Bloods ran rampant in the final term on the way to premiership glory, booting six goals to one for an emphatic victory, 11-10 (76) to 510 (40).

Riley Bills booted five goals, while Tyler Mafis, Blake Zimora, Dylan Gauci, Connor Dastey and Cooper Burgess also prominent in a strong team effort.
