Destroying precious farmland

-

How much more precious farmland is Baw Baw Shire Council going to be allowed to be destroyed by housing?

Are we going to wait until we become another Pakenham and throw our hands in the air and wonder how we got to this situation.

By that time the developers would have made their money and moved on.

More than likely the council staff who approved this wreckage. would probably have moved on also and our farmland will be gone forever.

Whilst the council is overseeing this wholesale destruction they are making life difficult for any poor soul who wants to make any alterations or additions to an existing home by imposing ridiculous petty rules for the smallest of changes.

Perhaps they have forgotten that they are supposed to be a ‘public service’ - the clue is in the title they are supposed to provide a service to the public.

They seem to be drunk on power and bend over backwards to make our lives as difficult as possible. Gwen Turner, Warragul

First things first. Lets get the Baw Baw Shire ‘company’ learning how to welcome new property owners and residents.

Councillors, as representatives of the community, are friendly and obliging, however the system within is lacking social skills.

Councillors do not need to be reminded of their compassionate attitude. Using the shire council as a political platform is what should be discouraged.

We don’t need to bring politics into our shire council. We have enough of this at state and federal level. Focus on allowing all of us to live peacefully.

The finances of the Baw Baw Shire rely substantially on property rates . These funds come from hard working people who have spent many years going without to purchase a property in this shire.

I note that the shire can and has issued multiple rates to some property owners with one property title.

Small acre properties within rural zones with no amenities are rated as town equivalents. Very unfair. It seems the property owners that provide the finance for the services of the community are the very ones being financially punished, interest charged and legally threatened when late with their payments.

Whinging about self serving self indulgent party politicians, who lead a plutocratic existence at the taxpayers' expense, will neither reform nor remove them.

They are not reformable. That is plain to all but the politically illiterate from 10 years of confected ‘leadership’ crisis begun by the ALP and continued by the Coalition.

Repeatedly government has been prostituted to puerile party numbers games to determine which ambitious party narcissist shall become chief maggot atop the seething party dunghill.

These theatre of the absurd ‘coups’ are unrelated to the national nor the public interest and display wanton indifference to both.

Elsewhere in the world electorates have shown their contempt for smugly self satisfied political establishments dedicated only to their own aggrandisement and the electorates' eagerness to topple them.

By comparison the Australian electorate has been remarkably meek and supine in the face of coalition and ALP depredations at its expense at state and federal levels.

Thank you to the volunteers from Friends of Drouin Trees who planted the new plants at the little creek and bush area, at the walking trail from Lampard Road, Drouin. They have also watered them to get them established. Where would be without our wonderful volunteers?

It’s been reckoned that an international wave of rebuttal and rejection of establishment politicians will occur in Australia. I'll believe it when it occurs. Meanwhile ineffectual whingeing in lieu of action seems locally more appealing Frank Carleton Longwarry Bricks to some of the traders in Yarragon Village that felt it necessary to add a public holiday “surcharge” to take-away coffee, when you don’t pay penalty rates

To Fozigobbles who bucked the trend to place “public holiday” surcharge on their take-away coffee.
