DOVE fundraiser hailed success
The Drouin Secondary College Overseas Volunteering Experience (DOVE) to Cambodia recently held their major raffle.
The raffle was a major success, selling 450 tickets and raising $2200 towards their project of building a library, outfitting the shelves and providing books for a school in Tbeng Province, outside of Siem Reap in Cambodia.
The school thanked local businesses for donating prizes, Luanda Pianta for collating the items for pamper hampers and the Drouin community for their support. Prize winners: 1st prize: quilt and champagne: Andrew Marks (495).

3rd prize: pamper hamper: Brendan Davidson (118).
4th prize: wine hamper: Ron Nocentini (322). 5th prize: flip speaker: Emily Sandman (281). 6th prize: baby care hamper: Corey Taylor (140).
7th prize: toddler hamper: Rosie Cummings (402).
8th prize: jam fill speaker: Adrian Fields (316). 9th prize: tea hamper: Deb Gentle (350). 10th prize: pet hamper: Sue Quake (464). The DOVE group has also been busy packing 160 ‘days for girls’ kits to take with them to Cambodia in November.
The kits change the lives of girls and women who would normally stay at home or get shunned by their community when they menstruate. The kits are washable and 100 per cent reusable, allowing greater confidence and independence. The team, parents and teachers packed 160 in an hour in a great effort.
The school also thanked Drouin Rotary for their $500 donation towards the program.
There are still many fundraising commitments including Bunnings barbecues, bake sales and cleaning up around the school before Cup Day.
The departure date is now only two-and-ahalf months away and students are getting excited.
