Warragul CFA

-

Warragul CFA is preparing for the fire season, preparing equipment and members for the situations that could eventuate over the summer.

The brigade urge people to take preparing your family and property seriously, with Fire Week a good opportunity to take action.

The Warragul CFA is a large brigade with more than 50 members ranging from juniors, firefighters and brigade members. The captain is Bradley Hogan.

The Brigade is busy all year round, turning out to structural fires, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous incidents and grass and scrub fires.

And with Warragul growing in population they are set to get even busier.

Warragul has a strong female representation too, with 14 women (10 active firefighters).

In the recent elections the first female was elected into the 4th Lieutenant position in Gita Walker.

“Warragul CFA is a very inclusive brigade and all the community is welcome to join regardless of gender, age or race,” Gita said.

“As a female in the brigade I have never felt any discrimination, only support and encouragement to participate, learn and improve my skills.

“As recruitment officer, I encourage anyone who has been thinking of joining the brigade to come down on a Monday evening between 7.30 – 9.30pm to meet the team, or look at the CFA website.

“Community volunteering has so many benefits for everyone.”
