Terrific start for Drouin bowlers

Drouin Bowling Club had a very good start to the pennant season, with all four teams winning.

Division one: Drouin 20/135 defeated Morwell Club 0/72.

Samantha Atkinson, Lesley Firth, Dennis Throup and Matthew Schreyer defeated J. Millier’s team 35/17.

Graeme Aubrey, Dale Hendrick, Sheryl Atkinson and Mark Atkinson defeated R. Whitton’s team 26/19.

David McIlfatric­k, Colin Finger, John Leighton and Adam Proctor defeated B. Hanley’s team 32/20.

Ron Brodie, Glen Lockett, Toby Wallace and Gary Johnson defeated D. Stevens’ team 42/16. The 26-shot win gave the team overall best rink.

Division three: Drouin (2) 16/118 defeated Warragul (3) 2/78.

Bob Cole, John Bulmer, Ian McCartney and Noel Rubenstein defeated Keith Wilkins’ team 33/15.

Don Mowat, Chris Brownlee, Phil Jarred and David Tayles defeated Ray Headspeith’s team 31/12.

Laurie Innes, Pauline Appleyard, Maureen Leighton and Arthur Moore defeated Eric Porter’s team 30/21.

Matthew Willis, Matthew Long, Colin Jeffrey and Andrew Kidd lost to Elsie Hefford’s team 24/29.

Division four: Drouin 16/89 defeated Yarragon 4/79.

Elaine Thorpe, Merv Appleyard, Ray Watson and Neil Bullen lost to Sam Mazza’s team 20/24.

In this match, Drouin was down 5/15 on the 15th. They staged a big comeback to pick up 15 shots to lose by just four shots.

Clive Newman, Gary Watts, Lloyd Smith and Barrie Price defeated Richard Polmear’s team 24/20.

Mal Anderson, Margaret Rhodes, Margaret Schofield and Robert Proctor lost 15/17.

Terry McFadzean, Mary Firth, Gwen Price and Peter Hone defeated Jason Roberts’ team 30/12.

Division six: Drouin 8/49 defeated Trafalgar 2/45.

Max Hine, Roger Kennett, Les Gould and Tom Lawler defeated Geoff Burt’s team 25/20.

Jim Purvis, Ian Haughton, Richard Joyner and Brian Thorpe lost to Noel Morland’s team 24/25.
