In reply the Crows overcame the loss of an early wicket with a 77-run partnershi­p from Geoffrey Rumble (32) and top scorer Trevor McPhail (44) easing the way for Gary Kear (34 not out) to wrap up the match in the 32nd over.

Single wickets went to Angus Hales (1/26), Steve Bleazby (1/30), and Harrison Forwood (1/41).

Eagles enter the fray

Ellinbank 4/111 def Hallora 10/110 Also joining the competitio­n, Ellinbank struck an early blow to account for Hallora on the back of a sensationa­l five wicket haul to youngster Callum Auldist.

Claiming the first five scalps, Auldist finished with the incredible figures of 5/5 off six overs.

With the Hallora innings in tatters Daniel Sell offered stern resistance in the middle order, striking four boundaries and three sixes to top score with 54. A handy cameo from Shane Kearney (26) helped the Kangas to at least reach triple figures.

Chipping in late in the innings, James Scammell finished with 2/8.

In reply the Eagles were never troubled with Pete Felstead (29) anchoring the innings. Scammell capped off his day with an aggressive 47 not out (three fours and three sixes) as the home side ran out easy victor just four wickets down.

Jacob Kleeven was the pick of the bowlers with a tidy 2/22 off six overs.

Iona hold on

Iona 8/174 (cc) def Warragul 8/153 (cc) In the final match of the round newcomers Iona have held off a determined to Warragul to take the points in a thrilling contest.

Opting to bat first, the Swamp Tigers set the pace early with handy partnershi­ps throughout the innings.

Sean McCormack made a good start before falling for 33, while Liam Lenders put a high price on his wicket compiling an invaluable 64. Handy contributi­ons from Craig Lenders (14) and Muhammad Sohaib (16) helped the visitor to set a challengin­g target.

Wickets were evenly shared amongst the bowlers with Nathan Whitten (2/28) and Lachlan Waters (2/20) the top performers.

In reply Amandeep Singh picked up where he left off last season, striking 10 boundaries on his way to top scoring with 47. John Mulqueen (18) and skipper Cameron Smith (20) kept the scoreboard ticking while Jackson Clerks almost got the Gulls over the line, finishing the day 26 not out.

Sohaib was the pick of the bowlers with a tight eight over spell that saw him claim 2/21, while Craig Lenders and McCormack chimed in with 2/33 and 2/38 respective­ly.
