11contractors for roads

-

Eleven contractors have been appointed by Baw Baw Shire as part of a tender to undertake road maintenance and construction works.

The civil and ancillary works contract is a three year contract.

Council advertised the tender with the aim to appoint a panel of contractors to deliver local roads maintenance and construction works. Nineteen contractors responded to the tender process.

Council appointed a panel of 11 contractors including: Drouin Tree Services, Sure Constructions, GBM Contractors, Murphy Road Grading, McInnes Earthmoving, Brownlie Holdings, Fowlers Asphalting, KND Services, MACA Infrastructure, Gippy Tree Services and Meggetto Asphalting Civil Construction.

A report to council said the local road maintenance and construction works would be undertaken within council’s existing operating and capital works budgets.

Officers said appointing a panel of contractors provided greater flexibility and responsiveness to undertake civil road and maintenance works where required.

Cr Tricia Jones said this tender had been assessed in accordance with council’s recently adopted procurement policy.

She said the applicants went through a robust process.

“This is a really good way for council to go to whoever is appropriate for the job that needs to be done.

“It makes it faster, quicker and cheaper in the end for council,” she said.

Crs Joe Gauci and Danny Goss declared conflicts of interest in the matter and did not vote.
