-

Neerim South resident Emma Field has been awarded the Bill Cumming Young Achiever award.

The Bill Cumming Young achiever award is presented to a young person who has and is exhibiting the ideals espoused by the late Bill Cumming of achieving their best in whatever they choose. Nominees are high achievers in their chosen field and always strive to achieve excellence in their lives and the pursuit of their goals.

Emma has been a resident in Neerim South for all her life, attending Neerim South Primary School and then Neerim District Secondary College.

Emma’s dedication to her studies, particularly the sciences, her desire to support other students, and her willingness to commit her energy to organising school and community events led to her nomination for the award.

Emma is only one of a few Secondary students invited to attend the Order of Australia (OAM) Regional Sir Frank Macfarlane Burnet Address in 2017 and was invited to attend again this year.

Emma is a Youth Leader for the Haemophilia Foundation Victoria, assisting both children who have bleeding disorders and their siblings at HVF camps and outings.

Emma has also been a high achiever in sports, representing Neerim District Secondary College in tennis, badminton, basketball, table tennis, volleyball, athletics and cross country.

Emma currently holds the NDSC athletic records in both the 100 and 200 metre running events.

Matt Cumming, son of the late Bill Cumming, presented the award to Emma at a recent presentation.
