Musicians fill stage for “Symphonic Adiemus”

-

Tickets will be available at the door for the combined concert “Symphonic Adiemus” at the West Gippsland Arts Centre on Sunday at 3pm.

The Latrobe Chorale and West Gippsland Chorale have been pleased with the response to online and phone bookings for the concert and are expecting further tickets to be purchased on the day.

Staged at the newly redeveloped arts centre, audience members are advised to arrive early, as this concert has been billed as the musical highlight of the year, and a sizeable audience is expected.

On stage will be about 200 musicians and singers. The two local choirs and the Heidelberg Choral Society will be singing and a 50piece orchestra playing.

They will present two large musical works from the 19th and 21st centuries.

Karl Jenkins’ “Symphonic Adiemus” had its premiere performance in 2017. This work is informed by both classical music principles and the flavours of world-fusion music, and features a massed choir singing as part of an orchestra.

This will be contrasted with Puccini’s “Messa di Gloria”, which has been popular with audiences since its debut in 1880. Soloists will be Jeremy Kleeman (bass baritone) and Timothy Reynolds (tenor).

Jeremy Kleeman is graduate of Victorian Opera’s Developing Artist Program and of Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. He has been a Melba Opera Trust Scholar, the recipient of the Dame Heather Begg Award and has received both Helpmann and Green Room award nominations.

Timothy Reynolds has performed on the opera stage in Europe, the UK and regularly in Australia with Victorian Opera and Opera Australia. He teaches at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School.

The combined choirs acknowledged support by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria as well as Baw Baw Shire Council.

There will be one performance only for this concert, which offers an opportunity for music lovers to enjoy a quality performance of this magnitude in the West Gippsland region.

Ticket prices are $45 for adults, $40 for concession and groups, and $20 for youth under 18 years.
