Warriors score double over Sale

Warragul Warriors further advanced their position at the top of the Country Basketball League ladder with a strong victory over the Sale Sonics at Warragul Leisure Centre on Saturday night.

The Warriors delivered another strong effort, with 10 players scoring on the way to winning 105-77.

DwainScott led the scoring with 27 points, while Sam Flanders (19 points with three three-pointers) and Mihailo Kulas (18 points with four three-pointers) also impressed.

Each side traded blows early in the match, with a pair of three-pointers to Kulas helping the Warriors to a narrow one-point lead.

The Warriors made a move in the second term, heading to the long break with a 19point advantage.

Sale narrowed the gap to 10 points in the third quarter, but the Warriors were again able to power away to complete another strong victory.

The win to the Warriors to a 7-1 win-loss record to sit top of the ladder, although the Moe Meteors follow closely with six wins and a match in hand.

It sets up a top of the table clash at Moe on Sunday, with tip off at 2pm.

Meanwhile, the Warriors women also scored a strong victory over Sale, 116-40.

Kristy Glover scored 16 points for the Sonics, but the Warriors in comparison had three players score better.

Shanara Notman scored 33 points, followed by Kylie Mullen (20) and Mikaela Dickson (19).

The Warriors took control from the outset, racing to a 15-point lead and never letting the Sonics back into the contest.

The women will be hoping to back up a strong win over Moe in the opening round when they meet again onSunday, with tip off at noon.

The Warriors sit second on the ladder behind the undefeated Korumburra Willdcats.
