Higher scores in junior cricket

Junior cricketers have been improving their skills in their T20 competitio­n, with higher scores recorded in Saturday;s matches.

Under 16

Jindivick v Neerim District A strong total helped Jindivick to victory over neighbours Neerim District.

Sam Christie scored an unbeaten 25 retired, with several cameos in the middle order helping Jindivick post 5/117.

Lachlan Willis returned 2/14 from three overs for Neerim District.

Vinnie Caia (32 not out from 17 balls)and Lachlan Smith (21) helped NeerimDist­rict to a good start, with their first wicket falling on 62.

Jindivick hit back to restrict Neerim District to 6/88.

Rhys Galvin (2/2) and Dean Swinburne (2/6) led the fightback. Longwarry v Western Park Western Park comfortabl­y accounted for Longwarry.

Liam Quarrell, Fintan Fox and Daniel Pullen were the best of the bats as Longwarry struggled to 49 all out.

Jacob Konstanty and Liam O’Connor each took two wickets for Western Park.

Western Park fell to 5/44 in reply, before Nicholas Whitelaw (26 retired) and Jackson Hefford (17*) saw the Warriors home.

Quarrell struck early with the new ball, collecting three wickets, while Gokul Nair picked up two wickets. Warragul v Ellinbank Ellinbank continued its strong batting form to account for Warragul.

Despite an unbeaten 26 from Dylan Gentile, Warragul were restricted to 8/108.

Ryan Atherton took three wickets for Ellinbank, with Phillip Conley the other multiple wicket taker.

A boundary laden 26 retired from Bryce Joyce saw Ellinbank home after several cameos at the top of the order.

Gentile and Nathan Whitten were the multiple wicket takers for Warragul. Drouin v Garfield-Tynong Drouin and Garfield-Tynong played out a thrilling tie.

Jet Pickering (26 retired), Matthew Jones (28 retired) and Laim Lenders (22) helped the Titans post 3/104.

Drouin had three contributo­rs of their own in reply as the match went down to the final ball.

Nicholas Caddy (25 retired), Josh Maric (26 retired) and Bill Andrews (21 not out) helped Drouin lock the score at 104 apiece. Hallora v Buln Buln Hallora didn’t lose a wicket on the way to victory over Buln Buln.

Liam Serong (25), Alex Henshall (26), Jai Serong (25) and Brayden Notman (25) each retired and helped Hallora score at better than a-run-a-ball to finish 0/124.

Lachlan Axford top scored with 22 as Buln Buln managed 4/61 in reply.

Under 14

Neerim District v Drouin Drouin comfortabl­y accounted for Neerim District.

S Amaroso and Sam Graziotin each retired to help Drouin post 4/110.

Patrick Sheehan returned 2/8 from three overs with the new ball.

Neerim District managed 4/53 in reply, with Sheehan top scoring with 18 to cap a good game from him.

Graziotin took top honors for Drouin, taking 2/2 from three overs. Western Park v Garfield-Tynong Western Park comfortabl­y chased down Garfield-Tynong’s total in a 10-wicket win.

Carter Davis and A Braaksma each scored 18 to help the Titans post 4/73.

Lane Ward collected 2/2 for Western Park before scoring 21 retired to lead a measured chase completed in the final over.

Luke Garner (21)and Jacob Taylor (20) also retired to help Western Park home. Yarragon v Longwarry/Warragul The batting woes continued for the combiend Longwarry/Warragul side, rolled for just 15.

Ben Allsop and Addison Cumming each picked up 2/3 for Yarragon.

The Panthers managed 3/46 in reply, with Henry Allsop and Cumming each reaching double figures. Ellinbank v Hallora Ellinbank comfortabl­y Hallora.

Jonty Kennedy and Rick Rosser each picked up 2/5 as Ellinbank restricted Hallora to 8/50.

Ellinbank were in trouble early before a rescue mission was completed through William Auldist (20 retired), Jack Logan (10*) and Liam Lisle (16*).
