Optimism for Trafalgar Victory

-

Trafalgar Victory Soccer Club is looking forward to the 2019 season with optimism and a sense of expectation following the reappointment of Eamon O’Hare and Tony Wyatt as coaches.

Regarded as among the most respected and experienced senior coaches in Gippsland, both men boast exceptional player management skills with focus on player and team development.

O’Hare has carried the club forward in recent seasons. In 2017 he was voted by his peers as the Latrobe Valley Soccer League’s coach of the year for his development of a relatively inexperienced list into a competitive finalist unit.

In the same season, Joshua Paredes won the league’s best and fairest award.

“Joshua is an extremely talented, balanced and exceptionally fair sportsman,” club vicepresident Mark Judd said.

“He has exceptional skill, poise on the ball and is a pleasure to watch in action.”

Judd said Wyatt had also lifted women’s football at the club significantly.

Wyatt was voted by his peers to receive the inaugural LVSL senior women’s coach of the year last season.

“The TVFC senior women’s squad has finished top three over the past two seasons and been finalist in recent cup series,” Judd said.

“Both TVFC senior coaches are passionate about the game, their club and their players.”

Capping the honours for the club last season was Amanda Hines, who was awarded LVSL’s senior women’s player’s player following a vote from her peers for the best player in the league.

The now 19-year-old is a dominant midfielder who has every trick in the book and is as skilful as she is determined.

“Both Joshua and Amanda are well worth the gate entry alone on a Sunday at the Trafalgar Recreation precinct,” Judd said.

Judd said the club continues to evolve into a club of prominence in the LVSL.

TVFC has fielded teams since its introduction into the then recognised Gippsland Soccer League back in 1996.

Today, some 22 years later, the club has one of the best playing surfaces in country Victoria and offers the Word Game to boys and girls through a vibrant Mini Roos and junior program. The club also has a full complement of senior teams, for both men and women.

“Trafalgar Victory FC can truly boast a pathway for all players,” Judd said.

“Being the only LVSL club located west of Moe, Trafalgar Victory is an attractive option for not only Trafalgar residents, but for players from Yarragon, Willow Grove, Thorpdale and Warragul.

“In many ways it is a regional club for West Gippsland.”
