Division 5

- By Adam Johnson

Western Park fell short of defeating Buln Buln outright in a one-sided contest.

Bleazby leads Drouin

Drouin 3/191 defeated Jindivick 8/188(cc) Stephen Bleazby has led Drouin to a comfortable win with a classic knock that saw him post his highest score since joining the Hawks three years ago.

Combining firstly with Thomas Wans (24) and then Brian McCarty (60*), Bleazby worked the ball beautifully through the field before eventually falling for 80.

With the bulk of the work done it was left to McCarty and Brad Cross (14*) to safely guide their side to victory with seven overs to spare.

Jeff McBride toiled hard in his first spell for the Jumping Jacks, picking up 1/32 off 13 overs with five maidens. Dhylan and Duane Horsburgh each picked up a wicket.

Tight finish for Titans

Garfield/Tynong District 8/173 (cc)

It was a much closer result in this match with the Titans only reaching the target in the penultimate over.

A good start from Gavin Koch (26) was almost brought undone as the change bowlers ran riot picking up 4/15 to leave the visitor looking shaky at 5/56.

Aaron Maxwell (38) and Ray Evans (44) steadied ship with a 67-run partnership but with Maxwell’s dismissal leaving the visitors still 50-runs in arrears, there was still some work to be done.

Jeff Telford (15) chimed in with a handy cameo as Evans soldiered on to get his side across the line in the 59th over.

Grant Pearson was the pick of the bowlers
