To celebrate the start of the Christmas tree season the Rotary Club of Warragul will have Santa available to meet children at the Christmas tree plantation in Burke St, Warragul this weekend

There will also be a sausage sizzle and al children will get a bag of sweets.

Santa will be attending from 11am to 1pm. The plantation is next to Gulwarra Heights Cemetery.

Christmas trees and stands will go on sale from Saturday and can be bought at BP Warragul in Brandy Creek Rd and Rowe’s Nursery in Landsborou­gh Rd. Trees are also available in Neerim South at Blerick Tree Farm.

Trees can also be bought at the plantation on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 4pm.

President Ross Dawson said it was a community supported project. Again this year the club has assistance with harvesting trees from students at the Warragul Regional College and the Warragul Venturers who use their input to raise funds for their community projects.

Rotary’s major retail outlet for Christmas trees at Warragul BP sell the trees for the club at no charge to the club as a community service.

Since Rotary began growing and selling Christmas trees in 1985 more than 30,000 trees have been sold generating profits in excess of $250,000 that have gone back into a range of community projects.
