Ladder leaders clash

-

It was a top of the table clash when Longwarry division two hosted Traralgon on Saturday.

After an even contest throughout the day, Longwarry held on for a 22-shot win.

Division six unfortunately had a forfeit against them so had the week off.

Division two: Longwarry 16/106 defeated Traralgon (2) 4/84.

Elio Meggetto, Judy Eastwell, Kenneth Towt and Barry White (skip) defeated G. McRonald’s team 42/15.

Longwarry’s great form continued as they totally dominated from the start, only allowing Traralgon to win six ends for the day. With all players performing well, they recorded a great 27-shot win.

Lorna Sheedy, Grant Pask, Ian Peterson and Russell White (skip) lost to W. Bishop’s team 17/28.

Longwarry got away to a great start. With the skip bowling well, they got out to an eight-shot lead by end nine. Unfortunately, Longwarry could only manage to win another four ends for the day as Traralgon controlled the second half of the game to win by 11 shots.

Glenn Pask, Lloyd Maisey, Hank Metselaar and Slim Eastwell (skip) lost to Graham Cross’ team 18/23.

Longwarry had a great start, getting five on the first end and leading 16/6 after end 11. However, they could only manage to win another two ends for a remainder of the game as Traralgon made a remarkable comeback to win by five shots.

Simon Counsel, Mark Serong, John McCarthy and Ken White (skip) defeated G. Cole’s team 29/18.

Longwarry started slowly and lost the first three ends. They then stepped it up, winning the next seven ends, to take a 10-shot lead into the break. After tea, the game was reasonably even with Longwarry winning by 11 shots in a great team effort.
