Darnum Preps make transition

-

Darnum Primary School recently welcomed 16 new Prep students to the school for their transition program.

During the program, the new Prep students get to know all staff and students and are matched to their school buddies for 2019.

New parents also took part in meetings with staff and School Council members to discuss aspects of their children’s start to school such as uniform, healthy lunch suggestions and how to become involved in the school.

The transition program has capped an exciting year for everyone involved at Darnum Primary School with school enrolment reaching 155 students.

Meanwhile, students in grades four, five and six participated in Tough Mudder with Rosebud Primary School.

All students laughed together as they went over obstacles and crawled through the muddy creek.

The Student Representative Council have worked really hard to develop the school’s Japanese garden.

Students have spent many recesses and lunchtimes working on the garden. The school are also appreciative of the families that came and helped at a working bee. The school community are encouraged to take a look at it as they drive past the school.

This year the school has focused on improving reading and students’ comprehension skills have developed.

The school thanked everyone who supported fundraising efforts which has enabled the school to buy reading resources.
