Thrilling junior T20 finals
The first silverware of the Warragul District Cricket Association was on the line on Sunday with T20 finals completed.
Western Park claimed a comfortable victory over Ellinbank in the under 14s.
Being sent in to bat, Western Park’s top order of Luke Garner, Jacob Taylor, Lane WardKyle Baker and Toby Murfet helped guide Western Park to a competitive total of 3/97.
James Keogh, Liam Lisle and Matthew Atherton were the wicket takers for Ellinbank.
Lisle was the only Ellinbank batsman to reach double figures in reply as the Bankers fell short, bowled out for 71 in the final over.
Murfet and TomFawcett were the multiple wicket takers for Western Park, with Adam Mills, Baker and Ward picking up singles.
Meanwhile, Hallora accounted for Western Park in a thrilling under 16 final.
Sent into bat, Hallora posted 8/118 from their allotted overs.
Matthew Garner applied pressure Western Park, returning figures of 3/19.
Other wickets were shared between Kyle Baker, Jackson Hefford, Liam Fennell and George Thoppil.
Strong partnerships between Thoppil, Matthew Roberts and Nicholas Whitelaw at the top of the order set Western Park on course for victory.
However, following the retirements of Roberts and Whitelaw Western Park was unable to continue the momentum, falling short by just one run at 4/117.
