Install stop signs on Young Street

-

Yet another serious multi car accident at Hopetoun Road/Young Street, Drouin intersection on February 14.

How many more accidents do we need to have before Baw Baw Shire Council acts and installs stop signs on the Hopetoun Road approach along Young Street (both sides) .

Note that previously it was Young Street that had the right of way before it was changed to Hopetoun Road. Glenda Stewart, Drouin

VicForests does not disregard science, but also is not the state’s bushfire management authority.

We routinely inform and work with DELWP and Forest Fire Management Victoria, which are equipped to assess all the science and have decades of practical experience.

We heed their advice and comply with the Code of Practice for Bushfire Management on Public Land.

VicForests has invited David and Friends of Noojee’s Trees to have a fair and balanced discussion.

We remain flexible on how we could harvest in and around Noojee, and we hope for a positive response from David and his group. Alex Messina general manager, corporate affairs VicForests

We acknowledge work needs to be done in our town, pedestrian crossings, footpaths, upgrading of the railway car park, amongst other things but the one thing we all do know is that our main road does not need to be decreased in width via that insidious word of "streetscaping" which is just an open slather on work to be done without further advice.

Not only does council want to reduce the width of our main road, their future plans include investigation into the destruction of our CFA, destruction and rebuilding of the toilet block in the Bennett Street Park when upgrading would be far less costly and replacing the CFA building with a skate park which would be much better placed near our football ground, not the local hotel... great choice!

Councillors you do not live in Longwarry and very rarely visit Longwarry, whereas we do. We pay our rates, often squandered on works that benefit very few.

Please start listening to us instead of making plans to destroy our town.

Michele Maes, Longwarry
