Telling a story

-

Gippsland women will be empowered to take control of their own story and life at this year’s Women in Gippsland International Women’s Day event.

“Creating Her-story in 2019” is set to attract hundreds of women from across the region to listen to, create and share stories on Thursday March 7 at West Gippsland Art Centre.

The evening event is being hosted by popular TV and social media personality, producer, business woman and mother, Emmylou MacCarthy of Emmylou Loves, and will feature a panel discussion with inspiring women from across the Gippsland region.

This will be followed by a practical workshop where women will be encouraged to consider their own story and how they want to shape their future.

Women in Gippsland co-founder Kerry Wilson said the event aimed to empower women to write their own story – figuratively and literally.

“There’s a wonderful quote: ‘When writing the story of your life, don’t let anyone else hold the pen’ - and that’s the message Creating Her-story will embody,” Ms Wilson said.

“Women in Gippsland has been sharing stories since 2014 and on the eve of International Women’s Day, we want to create a night that brings women together to network, connect and share stories.

“Stories have power. They inspire imagination, empower you to grow, and remind you to dream big. They’re an important tool to help us strive towards gender equality,” she said.

The Women in Gippsland International Women’s Day “Creating Her-story in 2019” evening will run from 7pm to 9:30pm on Thursday, March 7 at West Gippsland Arts Centre. Registration and networking is from 6:30pm. Tickets are just $20 and available at www.wgac.com.au.
