Kenny complains about reception

-

A Yarragon man is facing charges for lighting a fire during a prohibited fire period at a Scanlons Rd property on the weekend.

It is the second incident in a week that a person has lit a fire during a prohibited period, prompting police to remind residents there would be a zero tolerance approach to fires being lit during fire restrictions.

The man decided to burn off some green waste on the Scanlons Rd property at 2pm on Saturday afternoon.

The man told police he was not aware fire restrictions were in place.

Police said the fire was about two metres by two metres in area.

The CFA attended at the property and extinguished the fire.

Police said the man would be charged on summons with lighting a fire during a prohibited fire period.

A district agricultural contractor has taken his frustration with his 4G mobile telephone service availability when in Warragul to the Telecommunications Ombudsman.

Kenny Clarkson says he has no problems loading material from the internet when he is at home at Neerim South or in most other areas, but it’s when he is in Warragul the problem persists.

He says he knows of others that share his frustration.

Mr Clarkson’s complaint to the TIO follows a number of calls to Telstra without any resolution and is centred on his claim of breach of contract by Telstra.

He pays $90 a month for his mobile service that he says is essential to his business.

“I don’t have a home ‘phone or computer; everything I do is through my ‘phone,” Mr Clarkson said.

Telstra regional manager Loretta Willaton said there had not been any widespread issues with the mobile network recently.

She pointed out in November the 4G capacity covering Warragul was upgraded as well as a new 4G base station at Warragul West being switched on.

Ms Willaton recommended anybody that may be having difficulties to contact Telstra or visit a Telstra store to determine whether the problem was due to the handset or is network related.

Mr Clarkson said the TIO said it had referred his complaint for investigation by Telstra initially and said he should make contact again if he has not had the matter dealt with by the end of the month.
