Drouin fall short in Trafalgar rematch

-

Drouin’s number one team fell short against Trafalgar in the division one semifinal on Saturday.

The result demonstrated anything can happen in finals. Only seven days prior, Drouin had a 48-shot win over Trafalgar in the final round of WGBD pennant.

It was a day of mixed fortunes for the club with division one knocked out of finals, but division three and six securing finals wins.

Division one: Drouin lost to Trafalgar 90/107.

Janice Aubrey, Sheryl Atkinson, John Leighton and Toby Wallace lost to T. Lodge’s team 15/31. Samantha Atkinson, Graeme Aubrey, Dennis Throup and Matthew Schreyer lost to J. McCausland’s team 18/37. Ron Brodie, Dale Hendrick, Les Firth and Mark Atkinson defeated S. Jones’ team 31/15. Matthew Eccles, Tim Anderson, Gary Johnson and Adam Proctor defeated D. Kane’s team 26/24.

Division three: Drouin defeated Trafalgar 88/87.

Elaine Thorpe, Clive Brownlee, Phil Jarred and David Tayles lost to M. Clymo’s team 19/33. Bob Cole, Andy Kidd, Steve Barr and Noel Rubenstein defeated B. Giles’ team 29/15. Laurie Innes, Matthew Willis, Maureen Leighton and Arthur Moore lost to P. Watson’s team 19/22. Don Mowat, Pauline Appleyard, Col Jeffrey and Col Finger won 21/17.

Division six: Drouin defeated Thorpdale 53/43.

Jim Purvis, Gary Watts, Tom Lawler and Ian Haughton defeated John Gunn’s team 30/23. Max Hine, Richard Joyner, Les Gouge and Kevin Potter defeated Graeme Savige’s team 23/20.

On the 14th end, Ian gave away a few shots. However, he had shots up his sleeve to have a good seven-shot win.

The club thanked Gary Johnson who travels back and forward from Ballarat every weekend to bowl for Drouin. It is much appreciated.

With division one out of the race and division three progressing straight to the grand final, only division six will play on Saturday.
