Neerim District on verge of upset

-

With Brad Williams (20), James Vela (27) and David Macdermid (21) failing to go on with it, some lower order resistance was required for Hallora.

Aiden Phillips (34 from 75 balls) and Craig Byrnes (14*) combined for a 10th wicket partnership of 39 to help give the Kangas a total to defend.

Michael Pandolfo’s brief spell with the ball proved successful, picking up 2/2 from two overs.

Tom Robertson and Nathan Pulham were the other multiple wicket takers.

Panthers toil

Yarragon v Drouin 274 Yarragon were forced to toil in the field as a century to Trevor Gardiner helped the Hawks post a commanding total of 274.

If the Panthers thought they were in for some respite after Damon Healy (37) and Sam Wyatt (59)took the score to 78, tey were mistaken as Gardiner expertly shielded the tail to see the Hawks through to the compulsory close.

With some support from Paul Timewell, Gardiner reached his century before Nuwan Perera breached his defences on the final ball of the innings as the Hawks posted 274.

Perera toiled hardest with 4/70 from 24 overs, while Paul Harvey picked up 3/39 as they single handedly attempted to stem the flow.
