Division 1
Neerim District 267 v Western Park 4/42 Neerim District could have a big say in shaping the Warragul District Cricket Association top four in division one with a sensational performance granting them favortism over Western Park following day one of proceedings.
A rapid century to Jackson Ward helped the Stags post a commanding total despite being bowled out short of 60 overs.
Having combined with Rhys George in an opening stand of 48, Ward didn’t let the sudden loss of a clump of wickets distubr him, continuining on his way with his innings of 111 inclduing 15 boundaries.
When Ward was dismissed following a 103run stand with Matthew Ward, who hit nine boundaries in his 57, the Stags had cleared 200 runs in good time.
TobyBayne took over the role of aggressor, with his 27 including five boundarties as Neerim District raced to 267.
Joel Batson may have come on too late as the eighth bowler used, collecting 4/39 from 7.5 overs.
Sanjaya Gangodawila was the other multiple wicket taker in a Western Park attack that struggled to contain.
With 19 overs to face out until stumps, the Western Park run chase got off to a disastrous start.
Leigh Diston was the only man to show any resistance with his 20 from 25 balls including four boundaries, but his dismissal leaves Western Park vulnerable at 4/42.
Dane Fawcett bowled 10 overs unchanged for two wickets, with Ben Lockett and Kody Wilson each chipping in with one wicket
Bankers in box seat
Ellinbank 1/44 v Hallora 163 Ellinbank are well-placed in their pursuit of Halliora’s 163.
The Bankers will resume at 1/44 with plenty of batting still to come, Troy Ferguson the only casualty when he was trapped in front by Grant Duncan for 28.
Earlier, several Hallora batsman got starts but couldn’t capitalise as they were dismissed for a middling total of 163.
Grant and Fraser Duncan combined in an opening partnership of 36, but the Kangas lost wickets at regular intervals from that point.
